Vedruna Foundation Day cum Annual Prize Distribution

The Corona crisis could never stop us from any of our scheduled school activities of the year. On the 26th February 2022, Saturday we, the Vedruna sisters at Langmili, Diphu celebrated our 196th Foundation Day along with our Annual Prize Distribution. Sr. Leelamma CCV, the Superior of Vedruna Convent, Langmili was our Chief Guest along with Fr. Manu as the Guest of Honour for the event. The students from class 2, Sarklim Engti and Klar-Et Singnarpi anchored the entire event. The program began with the prayer song “Give me oil in my Lamp…” by our students from classes 1 and 2 which was followed by the welcoming with a bouquet to Sr. Leelamma, Fr. Manu, Sr. Sunita, Sr. Neeta and the teachers respectively. Angtong Enghi and Sixmaylin Rongpipi, the students from standard 2 threw light on the importance of the day. They said how the Congregation ‘Carmelite Sisters of Charity, Vedruna’ was founded by St. Joaquina De Vedruna with nine girls. They, in their speech, appreciated all the Vedruna sisters for their service to the needy. They thanked Srs. Leelamma, Sunita and Neeta for their interest and dedication to the enhancement of the people in Langmili, a rural village of Diphu Diocese. Students from classes 1 and 2 beautifully sang “Hail to St. Joaquina…”. Sr. Leelamma CCV inspired the gathering with her brief message based on the life of Joaquina de Vedrun.
The Foundation Day Celebration was followed by the Annual Prize Distribution ceremony. Sr. Neeta CCV, the Headmistress and Ms. Pudomi Hansepi, our teacher called out the students who secured their best positions in different competitions, in academic activities and those who excelled in their study during the year 2021 to honour them with prizes. Sarklim Engti from class 2 was announced as the best student Boy and Carolin Phangchopi from LKG was declared as the best student Girl of the year 2021. The students thanked the teachers and parents through the song ‘Two little words…. Thank you…’. Parents who had encouraged their children to participate regularly in online activities were welcomed on the stage. Sr. Neeta CCV appreciated them for their keen interest in teaching their children and being regular in home learning/teaching. On behalf of the parents, Ms. Juli Terangpi, Ms. Wesa Terangpi and Mr. Mansing Rongphar came forward to express their gratitude toward the sisters and teachers for their hard work and dedication molding and mentoring their children. Fr. Manu, the Principal too thanked everyone, especially the sisters for their valuable contribution to the education of the children and service to the people around them. LKG and UKG students performed their beautiful dances which cheered the crowd most. The program was ended with our favorite Vedruna clap led by Sr. Sunita CCV.
